Junction City council adopts $759,800 supplemental budget to fund approved garbage truck

The Junction City Council on May 28 adopted a supplemental budget ordinance to finance the purchase of a garbage truck the council approved May 14.

City staff told the council the supplemental budget will increase the sanitation capital projects fund by $759,800 and requires a public hearing because the change exceeds 10% of that fund. “So the purpose of this, supplemental budget is, for the financing and funding of the garbage truck purchase, which was approved by council on May 14,” staff said.

Chair opened the required public hearing and asked for testimony; no members of the public spoke. The council then considered and adopted the attached resolution. The council announced affirmative votes and the chair confirmed the resolution passes.

The change will record loan proceeds in the fund’s revenue section and apply a matching increase to the equipment acquisition line. Staff included an April monthly report on capital projects with the packet and said a formal resolution was attached to enact the adjustment.

The council did not schedule additional public hearings on this item; staff did not provide a detailed financing schedule at the meeting. The council’s action authorizes staff to complete the purchase under the adjusted capital project appropriation.
