Whitley County approves $110,471 CAD contract for dispatch upgrade, state grant to cover majority

Whitley County’s fiscal court voted to approve a contract with Computer Information Systems to replace the county’s aging computer‑aided dispatch (CAD) system and to accept grant funding to cover most of the purchase.

County staff and dispatch representatives described the upgrade as necessary because the existing CAD was beyond vendor support and could no longer be updated. The new system, officials said, will integrate geographic information for caller location and enable texting capabilities for dispatchers.
