At its May 2 meeting the Benton County Board of Commissioners approved routine business items, multiple proclamations and several procedural motions.
The board approved the consent calendar by voice vote and adopted proclamations recognizing National Public Works Week (proclamation P2023-5), Community Action Month (P2023-000), Mental Health Awareness Month (P2023-007) and Historic Preservation Month (P2023-008). Each proclamation was moved, seconded and passed by voice vote.
On budget matters staff presented two supplemental amendments for public hearing on May 16: a $32,091 increase in Public Safety Operations (to recognize federal homeland security revenue for an EOC training position in the sheriff s office) and a request to increase trust-fund appropriations to repair logging roads and the Bizzell Barn concrete floor (amount specified by staff). Both items were forwarded to public hearing.
A commissioner also sought time-sensitive approval to use the Benton County logo on an Association of Oregon Counties/behavioral-health partners letter requesting state behavioral health funding; the board approved use of the county logo by voice vote.
Finally, the board recessed to convene Alpine County and LC County Service District meetings and forwarded their small sewer supplemental budgets to the May 16 public hearings before adjourning.
