The Neshaminy School Board paused routine business to recognize the district's 2024 teacher recognition award winners and to thank community volunteers.
Superintendent Bowman highlighted recent student and staff achievements, including Chamonix High School’s musical Spamalot earning awards and a Jimmy Awards nomination for a student. Michelle Burkholder introduced the district’s teacher recognition program and Kristen McCreery, assistant principal at Maple Point Middle School, presented Melissa Negrati as the Leadership Award recipient, citing her work with multi-tiered systems of support and data-driven instruction.
High school principal Steve Garska introduced Kim Kelly (English teacher and NHS adviser) and Kimberly Montone (founder of the district’s Mini-THON chapter) as additional recipients. Brian Kelly, an elementary physical-education teacher nominated for innovation, was announced as an award recipient but was not present to accept.
Board members offered congratulations and thanked teachers for their work in classrooms and the community. Trustees also welcomed new administrative hires announced later in the meeting.
Next steps: Award recipients will receive $1,500 for classroom materials and have their names engraved on a plaque outside the boardroom, per the recognition program guidelines presented.
