The Neshaminy School District Board of School Directors on Oct. 24 approved a contractual safety assessment and cleared several personnel items in unanimous votes.
Board members voted to approve the Cardinal Point safety and security threat assessment service agreement after a motion to adopt agenda item 2.01 was made and seconded; the chair recorded the vote as 9-0 in favor. The contract was described on the agenda as a district safety and security assessment service relationship with Cardinal Point.
In a separate vote on agenda item 2.02 the board approved the administrative appointment of Kevin Freeman as supervisor of security. The motion was seconded and passed 9-0. After the vote, Kevin Freeman addressed the board, saying, "Thank you so much for this opportunity. I look forward to working with you all." Freeman was invited to speak immediately after his appointment was announced.
The board also approved a master motion to adopt items 2.03 through 2.09, a package covering administrative and support leaves of absence, resignations and appointments. During that discussion the board noted two retirements listed under item 2.04: Diane Keenan with 29.2 years of service and Gary Phillips with 32.3 years of service. The master motion passed 9-0.
Each motion was handled in open session after the board earlier said it had met in executive session to discuss employment matters. The presiding officer said the next regular public board meeting will follow the committee calendar and reminded the public of upcoming committee dates.
Votes at a glance: 2.01 (Cardinal Point safety assessment) — approved 9-0; 2.02 (appointment of Kevin Freeman, supervisor of security) — approved 9-0; 2.03–2.09 (administrative/support leaves, resignations, appointments including retirements) — approved 9-0.
The meeting adjourned after a brief round of committee and board comments; the board posted future meeting dates and encouraged public participation.
