The Neshaminy School District Board of School Directors voted unanimously to appoint Jason M. Bowman as acting superintendent, approving resolution 2.01 and authorizing the board president and secretary to execute an acting-superintendent contract.
The resolution, introduced by the chair, states the appointment is effective 09/01/2023 and may run for a maximum term of one year in accordance with the Pennsylvania school code. The board recorded the vote as 7-0.
A board member asked that it be placed on the record that the one-year maximum term is what the school code allows for this appointment and stated the acting superintendent’s salary as $206,000. After the vote, an administrator addressed the board and thanked members for their support, saying, "It's a true pleasure to work on behalf of and represent this community." That remark was delivered by an administrator who spoke at the podium following the action.
The motion also approved an acting-superintendent contract prepared and reviewed by the district solicitor; the contract was presented to the board and the board authorized district officers to execute the agreement on behalf of the district. No additional conditions or amendments were recorded at the meeting.
The board’s action fills the superintendent vacancy starting the term specified in the resolution. Next procedural steps are execution of the contract and any administrative transition work the superintendent and district staff identify after the vote.
