Superintendent Mr. Berman told the board the district’s annual STEAM Expo at Neshaminy High School on March 29 was well attended, estimating about 800 students and family members and participation from more than 40 community organizations and businesses.
He thanked staff and named Mr. Jeannette for organizing the event and said students presented their own projects. Berman also reported two sixth-grade teams advanced to the state finals in the Future Problem Solving competition, with one of the teams winning first place in the state for their action-plan presentation.
In a personal highlight, Mr. Berman described a surprise at Tawantucket Elementary where Army First Sergeant Chris Thompson, recently returned from overseas service, surprised his daughter Lydia during an assembly; Mr. Stanley recorded and posted a district video of the reunion.
Berman read a student letter from Carly Kaminski (Sandburg, Mrs. Tote’s fifth-grade class) urging more cafeteria recycling. He said the business office has worked with waste management to secure recycling bins and informational signage for district cafeterias and thanked Carly for the suggestion.
Those items were presented as routine superintendent updates and informational for the board; no formal board action was taken on the items reported.
