Mason County Fiscal Court approved several financial measures and land-use changes at its Jan. 9 meeting.
The court voted unanimously to approve budget transfers totaling $126,494 and authorized payment of presented claims, including $40,921.40 in additional claims. The treasurer also reported and the court approved the county financial statement as of Dec. 31, 2023.
On ordinance business, the court completed second reading and adopted Ordinance 24-02, an amendment to the annual budget that adds unbudgeted receipts including a federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) senior housing project award of $520,000 and a required local match of $58,000. The ordinance also lists a private grant of $6,000 for the animal shelter among the new revenues and corresponding appropriations. The motion to adopt passed on a roll-call vote with each commissioner recorded voting yes.
The court also adopted Mason County Order (Ordinance) 24-01, a zoning-map amendment reclassifying approximately 11.8868 acres related to Bluegrass Maysville Stockyards LLC from A-2 to B-2. County planning staff read the ordinance summary and answered commissioner questions about historic use and possible subdivision; the measure passed by unanimous roll-call.
Each recorded vote on these measures was read into the record by the clerk and recorded as affirmative by the commissioners present. The court will implement the budget amendment and related appropriations consistent with the ordinance language.
