Mason County Fiscal Court approves bond surety, accepts sheriff settlement, and names task force representative

Mason County Fiscal Court used its April 30 special meeting to approve several administrative items in a set of roll-call votes.

The court adopted Resolution 24-05 to approve surety on the sheriff's bonds. The presenters said Western (through Eric Schumacher) and Travelers were acceptable surety providers and that the required bonds should be filed with the clerk.

The court accepted a settlement and turnover of fees reported by the sheriff for Jan. 1April 30, 2024. The sheriff reported total receipts and expenses that yielded a check to Treasurer Muse for $63,725.36; the court moved to accept the amount and directed the treasurer to deliver the funds on May 1 to the sheriff's fee account.

The court also accepted the regular vendor claims list; Fiscalsoft Corporation was described as the county's longstanding software vendor supporting payroll, vendor claims, and tax billing.

For clerical purposes the court appointed a Mason County representative to the Buffalo/Bubbler Trace Gateway Narcotics Task Force. Officials described two task force accounts — an operating account and a restitution account that is being paid annually and will be disbursed when it reaches approximately $96,000 — and said the representative would be appointed as a financial agent for the county's participation.

All motions described above were moved, seconded and approved by roll call with all present members recorded as voting yes.
