Commission tables Argyle ISD sports-court lighting SUP to Jan. 7 for site visit

During the Dec. 3 meeting the commission considered SUP25003, a specific use permit requested by Argyle Independent School District for lighted sports courts on the north side of FM 407. Harrison (staff) said the ISD requested the item be tabled to allow a site visit that would include ISD representatives and a Musco lighting company representative. Staff recommended tabling to the Jan. 7 Planning and Zoning meeting to allow time for the site visit.

Commissioners discussed the fact that poles for the lighting had already been installed without a permit. One commissioner said an executive session might be requested to address liability or enforcement questions. A motion to table the item until Jan. 7 was made and seconded; the commission voted 6–0 to table the SUP.

Staff said it plans to meet on-site Dec. 5 with ISD and Musco representatives and encouraged commissioners to attend. The item will return to P&Z on Jan. 7, and if P&Z makes a recommendation that will go to Town Council for a final decision.
