Loomis town manager Sean to leave for Auburn; council approves contract for new manager Wes Heathcock

Town Manager Sean announced at the Loomis Town Council meeting that he has accepted a city manager position in Auburn and tendered the 30‑day notice required by his contract. He said his last payroll day will be June 9 and his last day in the office June 8. Council members and many residents praised Sean’s service.

The council then considered and approved an employment agreement for Wes Heathcock to become the town’s next manager. Staff described the proposed contract as substantially similar to the outgoing manager’s, with a starting salary of $180,000 plus a car and cell phone allowance. Heathcock introduced himself to the council, saying he grew up in the region and previously served 15 years with the city of Lincoln and as public works director and city manager in Colfax. “I think it’s gonna be a great opportunity to hit the ground running,” Heathcock said.

Council members moved and seconded the contract approval and recorded votes in favor from all present members. Staff noted the timing of the transition and recommended the incoming manager continue work on immediate obligations including completion of the FY 2023–24 budget and coordination of finance functions while interim accounting services remain in place.

Residents used public comment to thank Sean for his leadership; multiple speakers, including school district staff and local business owners, credited him with helping new businesses open and with coordination between the town and schools. Staff confirmed the finance department is being supported by an outside accounting firm during the transition and will remain under interim arrangements until the council determines a permanent approach.
