Several brief community updates closed the Loomis agenda before committee reports.
Library staff reported about 240 active participants in the summer reading challenge and listed upcoming programs including weekly story time, firefighter visits, comic workshops and genealogy classes. The library noted all 18 town park passes are currently checked out and available by hold.
Katie from the Loomis Chamber promoted the recently published Discover Loomis magazine and reminded residents of the Train Depot summer concert series (music 7–9 p.m., family activities and a Chamber booth selling beer and wine). She said a ribbon-cutting for Stove Connection's 30th anniversary is planned for July 21 and the Chamber's Coffee Connection meets monthly on the first Thursday at 8 a.m.
Multiple public commenters asked why the Eggplant Festival was canceled. Katie said the Chamber committee paused the event for a year due to logistical challenges but has since received strong feedback and will report back at the next council meeting on possible alternatives.
The meeting closed after short committee reports and adjournment by Mayor Cartwright.
