A Loomis resident appealed to the council on the condition of Velmar Avenue, saying the road has been deteriorating for years and temporary pothole repairs are insufficient.
"We've been on that road for 6 years," the resident said, describing repeated requests and recent patching that did not fully restore the surface. The resident said an engineer named Merrill had told her resurfacing — "like a thin coat" — was expected in June and that he planned to call her with updates.
Planning staff told the resident to contact the planning department, sign up for its email list to receive meeting notices and agendas, and consult the department's planning status document that lists current applicants and their status. A staff member said the planning commission handles many applications and that items typically come before the council only after the commission reviews them.
The resident also relayed community concerns she had heard about closing one end of the road or installing access gates; staff said that was not an active proposal. The resident asked the town to pursue more than temporary patching and said, "So anything that can be done would be appreciated."
The council did not vote on any roadwork at the meeting. Staff directed the resident to the planning department and to sign up for notifications so she can follow the item's progress and any future hearings.
