COG to preview draft EMS assessment in April; consultant findings to follow

COG members were told a third-party review of the county’s emergency medical services is nearing a draft stage and will be shared with the COG in mid-April.

Jana Young, who coordinated the review, said Safetec Solutions — the contracted consultant — is ready to present a draft report and initial recommendations to the COG on April 17, with a final report scheduled for May. “The consultant is ready to start sharing their draft report and initial recommendations with all of you, in April,” Young said.

Young said the consultant’s presentation to the COG is intended to collect feedback before the report is finalized and then presented officially at a county council meeting in May. Two stakeholder preview sessions are planned for April 20 (one in the morning and one in the evening) in Colville and Camas so interviewees and local providers can review recommendations before the finalization.

Young said the EMS subcommittee has been briefed throughout the process and staff will review the draft with that group prior to the April COG presentation. No formal action was taken; staff requested time on the April 17 agenda for the consultant presentation.

The COG did not vote on policy changes at this meeting; the session was a preview intended to solicit COG feedback ahead of the final report.
