COG elects chair and officers, approves past minutes and schedules next meeting

The Summit County Council of Governments opened by confirming leadership nominations and taking routine administrative actions. Members nominated and approved a new chair (motion carried by voice vote) and nominated Mel Worrell for vice chair; the assembly also moved and seconded a motion to appoint Mayor Marsh as secretary-treasurer, and those appointments were accepted.

Later in the meeting the Council moved to approve draft minutes from the Oct. 17, 2023 meeting. The motion passed on a voice vote with one member explicitly abstaining because they were not present at the earlier meeting. Members then discussed scheduling and agreed to meet in May, aiming for the third Tuesday (May 21).

These procedural items concluded the formal business portion of the meeting before member community updates and committee sign-ups.
