County staff told the Summit County Council it had received a petition from a property owner seeking annexation of Parcel SS-104B into Park City, noting the parcel is an island of Summit County surrounded by Park City municipal boundaries.
Laura Kurmeier told the council staff reviewed the petition and found it complies with state code. Council members asked whether Park City had been providing services to the parcel and whether there were other similar parcels; Kurmeier said the parcel is vacant and staff believed county services would have been the default but that there were no active services on the site. She said this appears to be the only remaining similar parcel in the area but offered to double-check map records.
Council members signaled no opposition and the item required no motion; staff said the county will only act if there are objections that justify opposition. Kurmeier said Park City had waited for the applicant to come forward for annexation.
No formal county action was taken at the meeting; staff will monitor Park City and property-owner actions and follow up if the county needs to express concerns or file opposition.
