The Summit County Council appointed Peter Tomai to the Summit County Restaurant Tax Advisory Committee on April 3, following a brief interview and questions about his background and potential conflicts of interest.
Tomai, who told the council he has "lived in Summit County more than half my life," described long involvement in local hospitality and advisory work. He said he served multiple terms on the RAP tax advisory board and most recently served as that board’s chair. Tomai told council members he is involved in hotel ownership in Park City, naming the Yarrow Hotel and DoubleTree, and said his WRAP‑board experience would help him "promote the mission" of the restaurant tax committee and distill data for council consideration.
Council members asked whether the vacancy represented a specific sector slot (restaurant vs. resort) and whether Tomai could manage the committee’s time demands. Staff indicated the opening was advertised as at‑large; Tomai said he would make time and was prepared to do the work necessary.
Later in the meeting a council member moved to appoint Tomai for a term ending July 31, 2025; the motion was seconded and adopted by voice vote. Tomai was told county staff would contact him about the appointment.
The appointment followed council practice of vetting applicants on record and disclosing sector background; no formal roll‑call vote or individual vote tallies were recorded in the meeting transcript.
