Park City senior-center leaders thank Summit County for expanded staffing and urge more meals and services

Elizabeth Novak, president of Park City Senior Citizens Inc., and Craig Weekley, board member, addressed the council during public comment to thank the county for added resources for the Park City Senior Center and to describe expanded programming.

Novak said membership has grown to more than 500 and that additional dedicated staffing will allow the center to operate four days a week with expanded activities such as exercise, art classes, bridge, Mahjong and field trips. "We are just bursting at the scene with over 500 members," Novak said, thanking Vice Chair Hansen and county staff for support.

Weekley emphasized the importance of congregate dining and nutrition, noting the county helps prepare and deliver meals through a collaboration with MAG and that many seniors rely on Meals on Wheels when they cannot attend. He encouraged council members to visit the centers and signaled the organization will return during the next budget cycle to request expanded funding if possible.

Speakers asked the council to consider additional funding to increase meal days beyond the current two-day schedule to address isolation and nutrition for homebound and congregate seniors.
