Commission forwards Nicholas Clubhouse 7,000 sq ft spa addition to county manager

The Eastern Summit County Planning Commission moved to forward a favorable recommendation to the county manager for a proposed 7,000-square-foot addition to the Nicholas Clubhouse, intended to house a spa facility.

A planning staff member summarized the proposal, saying the addition would attach to the existing roughly 35,000-square-foot clubhouse and that the site is an already disturbed area where parking and existing lot infrastructure would serve the expansion. “All existing facilities as far as parking lot, concern is concerned would be used on this one,” the staff member said, and staff recommended approval as described in the staff report.

An applicant representative described the clubhouse’s phased development history, noting prior additions (a gym/fitness facility added in 2015 and ballrooms in 2018) and said the spa addition continues that ongoing build-out. Applicants also noted potential future amenities, including a pool, though they said no immediate pool plans are scheduled.

Commissioners asked clarifying questions about phasing and site layout and then opened the public hearing; no public commenters were present. A commissioner moved to forward a recommendation in the affirmative for the Nicholas Clubhouse final site plan phase 4, with findings, conclusions and conditions from the staff report; the motion carried.
