Francine McNally and Jana (county staff) presented Park City Seniors’ request for expanded services on Nov. 29, asking Summit County for $250,000 in recurring operating support to fund a part‑time onsite director, programming staff, an administrative assistant and periodic drivers plus an additional capital ask staged over three years to support construction and furnishings for a planned new senior center.
Presenters said Park City’s center is near capacity (several days hit 60+ attendees), that congregate meals are a vital nutrition and social service for many older residents and that the Park City center would expand to more days as staffing and a new facility come online. Council questioned whether the same need existed at North and South Summit centers and how the county would ensure equity; staff described a warming‑van and kitchen model used to serve multiple centers and said the request is focused on Park City but county staff would consider broader equity implications.
Council also sought a clearer line‑item budget for the request; staff said the budget committee had recommended moving the current cook from part‑time to full‑time and that the $250,000 request is intended as a ramp to stabilize day‑to‑day operations while the new facility is built. No appropriation was adopted Nov. 29; council asked staff to return with more detail.
