The Summit County Council voted to (re)appoint Alyssa Marsh and Ryan Crittenton to the Restaurant Tax Advisory Committee, with terms set to expire July 31, 2026.
Alyssa Marsh — who served as vice chair during the previous grant cycle — told the council the committee tightened application rules this year after receiving roughly $5.8 million in requests while having about $3.8 million available. Marsh described changes that added a sustainable-tourism framework, stricter deadlines, and closer scrutiny of large operational awards. She said the committee sought a more equitable geographic distribution across the county and included ROI considerations when recommending funding.
Ryan Crittenton, a long-time Summit County resident and operations manager for a local store, said his background in budgeting, marketing and resort operations would help evaluate grant applications and county advertising-funded efforts. Several council members praised both applicants’ willingness to serve; the council moved and carried a voice vote to appoint Marsh and Crittenton.
The committee has two vacancies this cycle; staff will publish the committee’s interview schedule and noting that the panel’s main workload occurs in March through June during application review.
