The Summit County Council appointed Wes Chapel to the North Summit Recreation Special Service District Administrative Control Board during its Feb. 1 meeting.
Chapel told the council he is motivated to "give back" after more than 20 years in corporate leadership roles, including recent work with General Electric and a startup focused on order‑management and workforce applications, and that he serves as a professor at the University of Utah Business School. He described skills in organizational management and financial planning that he said would help develop an operational plan and business discipline for the rec center.
Council member Malina moved to appoint Chapel to fill the vacancy resulting from a December resignation, with the term expiring Sept. 30, 2025. Tanya seconded; the council approved the appointment by voice vote.
Clerk’s office will finalize appointment paperwork and notify the North Summit Recreation Special Service District Board.
