The Summit County Council voted unanimously Jan. 11 to approve the expansion master plan development (MPD), rezoning and conditional use permit necessary for the Ecker Hill (Tucker Hill) Middle School addition to accommodate eighth grade and roughly 400 additional student capacity.
County planning staff recommended approval after the planning commission recommended the MPD. The expansion package included three proposed addition areas and a special exception for height that had been approved previously in October. Council made a single bundled motion to approve the MPD, rezoning and conditional use permit consistent with the staff report’s findings and conditions; the motion passed with no opposition.
Council members noted the application had been vetted through staff and the planning commission, and the meeting record showed no public opposition during the hearing. With approval, the applicants may proceed to the next steps defined in the county’s land‑use process.
