Summit County honors planner Kirsten Whetstone and councilmember Glenn Wright with proclamations

The Summit County Council adopted two proclamations during its Jan. 4 meeting honoring longtime county contributors.

Proclamation 2023-01 recognized Kirsten Whetstone for 29 years of public service as a community planner; multiple council members thanked her for technical skill, institutional knowledge and distinctive enthusiasm for planning projects. Whetstone accepted the honor and said she looked forward to spending more time with family and outdoor pursuits.

Proclamation 2023-02 honored Glenn Wright for six years on the Summit County Council. Colleagues praised Wright’s environmental advocacy and intergovernmental work, and presented a locally made work of art as a parting gift. The council adopted both proclamations by voice vote with no recorded opposition.

Both proclamations were read into the record by staff and followed by personal remarks from council members and staff. The actions were ceremonial and did not carry policy or budgetary directives.
