Council appointments, franchise fee report and project updates

During the meeting the council moved and voted to fill two personnel posts and received routine reports. Council appointed Captain Jake Neff to fill a safety-committee vacancy created by a retirement. The appointment was moved, seconded and the roll call recorded affirmative votes.

Council also nominated and appointed Wendy Spiker, the city’s executive secretary who oversees finance, as the city delegate to the County Tax Collection Committee; Aaron Ria was named the alternate. The council recorded affirmative votes on the appointment.

As an informational item, staff reported the second-quarter Comcast franchise fee to the city totaled $26,009.52. Project reports included an update that skate-park demolition is scheduled to begin Aug. 28 with an expected completion date by year-end; staff thanked the public for patience during the work.
