Lyrica, the newly hired fair coordinator, told the Richland County Fair Subcommittee in May 2024 that she has been working since March to prepare this year’s county fair and has nearly finished booking entertainment, sponsors, judges and vendors.
“I've been here since March now,” Lyrica said. “I've been really focusing on getting our entertainment booked right now. That's what I'm really looking at. I've gotten good way through that. I'm almost ready to start submitting everything for that.” She added, “we will have, like, an actual, like, fair with all the fun parts of that.”
The coordinator said she has also been assembling posters and laying out the set schedule and described her outreach as in-person promotion to downtown businesses. Lyrica listed her regular office hours as Mondays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Committee members thanked staff and volunteers who helped bring operations back online. One committee member said grounds maintenance, including mowing, is being kept up and that a damaged sign post would be repaired. The subcommittee also reported a recent meeting with local beef producers to discuss goals and community participation; organizers plan to meet again after this year’s fair to begin planning for the next event.
The meeting was informational only. The presiding committee member announced there was not an appropriate quorum and adjourned the session, saying the group could not hold elections or take formal actions at that time.
No votes, motions or formal actions were recorded in the transcript.
