Rising Sun meeting notes: police grants, audit, Winterfest and Pearl Street repairs

At the town meeting, staff gave routine updates covering public safety, finance, events and public works.

Police Chief (speaker 5) reported that a candidate in the police academy is progressing and that the department is preparing three grant applications — equipment, police retention, and state aid for police protection — with application deadlines approaching. He said there have been no significant crime trends in town.

Assistant Town Administrator (speaker 3) said the annual audit will start at the end of the week and is expected to take a couple of months. He also noted plans for Winterfest on the first Saturday in December.

Town Administrator (speaker 1) said Pearl Street is scheduled for patching next week pending contractor scheduling and reminded commissioners that the Nov. 8 meeting was canceled for election night, with the next regular meeting set for Nov. 22.

The meeting closed after brief discussion of holiday trash and yard‑waste pickup schedules and an adjournment motion that passed by voice vote.
