At the close of staff reports on Dec. 27, Rising Sun's town attorney told the board that negotiations with Mill Creek Trailer Park about flooding issues have been ongoing and that, if talks do not produce a satisfactory agreement, the town may pursue litigation and hold a closed briefing for commissioners.
The town attorney said the matter has been active for more than a year and that legal steps are being prepared. "We're not sure that we're gonna reach a satisfactory accord, so the matter may take a litigation stance in the near future," the attorney said.
Separately, the police chief reported two pending grant submissions—one in conjunction with the county for new technology and a state grant for police protection—and said one looks promising. The chief also said vehicles ordered for the department have not yet produced VIN numbers after roughly six months, delaying equipment deployment.
No votes or closed-session authorizations were recorded on the record at the meeting; the attorney said any closed sessions related to litigation would be scheduled and publicly announced according to legal requirements.
