The City of Edgerton on a unanimous roll-call vote approved a Class B combination liquor and beer license for Collective Specialty Rentals LLC, doing business as Patriot Hall.
At the hearing for agenda item 8, staff said the applicant elected to license only the lower level for alcohol sales and would keep the upper-level VRBO unlicensed. The applicant, Carla Stolan, told the council she would enforce the split by posting signs, locking the upstairs door during events and using a rope or barrier “no alcohol past this point, and I’ll even have the door locked upstairs.” She also said she planned to install security cameras in the public (downstairs) area.
Council members pressed staff and the applicant on how patrons would move between spaces. Staff relayed guidance from the Department of Revenue that patrons may pass through an unlicensed area with closed containers if it is the only entrance, but that licensed alcohol cannot be opened downstairs. The council moved to approve the license, and the motion passed on roll call.
The council noted the license will be reviewed at the next meeting, when fees and renewal details will be finalized.
