Rising Sun cancels Dec. 18 planning meeting; land-development hearing moved to January

Town Administrator Tom told the Rising Sun Town Council that a land development application advertised for the Planning Commission meeting scheduled Monday, Dec. 18 has been postponed and "will be rescheduled till sometime in January." He said staff had advertised the item in the paper and updated the town website when the application was postponed.

Tom and commissioners explained advertising constraints: the paper runs notices on Wednesday and Friday and items generally require 48 hours advance submission, which limits the ability to re-advertise on short notice. "You have to give it to them, 48 hours in advance," a staff member said, explaining the timing rules for public notices.

Outside of the postponement, a commissioner reported that the Planning Commission recently toured developments to review best practices on housing layouts, parking and other items, and that the board is working on zoning-code changes including amendments to the table of permissible uses.
