The Crockett City Council on Aug. 21 approved a set of routine administrative and fiscal items, including meeting minutes, banking services, a modest garbage-rate increase and updates to Economic Development Corporation finances.
Council moved and approved the regular meeting minutes for the Aug. 21 meeting. The council then awarded sealed bid bank depository and payroll services to Prosperity Bank after staff said Prosperity was the only sealed bidder.
Council also approved a resolution to record amendments to the Crockett Economic Industrial Development Corporation (CEIDC) FY2023 budget, authorized payment of CEIDC invoices and approved the CEIDC operating budget for fiscal year 2023–24.
On utility services, council considered an ordinance amending Chapter 10 (garbage and trash) to pass to residents a contractor-allowed increase tied to CPI (3% this year). Staff said the increase equates to roughly $0.64 a month for residential service; council approved the ordinance rather than raising taxes to cover contractor cost increases.
Votes on these routine items were moved and seconded in open session and the mayor announced the motions carried. The transcript does not show roll-call tallies by individual council member names for all votes; the mayor verbally confirmed approval on each motion.
The council met in open session and did not conduct any executive session on these items during the recorded meeting.
