Crockett council hires Powell Law Group for redistricting; approves board reappointments and routine invoices

The Crockett City Council approved hiring Powell Law Group to assist with demographic analysis and any necessary redistricting of precinct boundaries following the 2020 census and related litigation. City staff said the school district completed its boundary updates and the city will use demographic data to evaluate precinct boundaries and avoid voter confusion; a council member moved to approve the engagement agreement, another seconded, and the chair announced the motion carried.

The council also approved reappointments to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (Spencer Burke, Chris Jones, Lindsay Rice, Larry Robbins, David Tyre, Joe Denman and Kimberly Mars) and reappointments or continuations on the Board of Adjustment (Bill Holcomb, Michael Brenner, Joe Denman, David Tyre, Samantha Wiley and alternates Louis Ball and Carla Popoca). Council moved and seconded those reappointments and approved them in the meeting record.

Finally, the council approved payment of invoices from the Crockett Economic and Industrial Development Corporation; the motion to approve invoices was moved, seconded and the chair announced the motion carries. The meeting adjourned after that action.
