The Crockett City Council approved a resolution and agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation to temporarily close a portion of state right-of-way to host a downtown Christmas lighting event.
Speaker 1 introduced the item and Speaker 4 moved approval; the motion was seconded and carried. Speaker 2 said the event will be the first annual downtown lighting and described coordination with the Ministerial Alliance and the Downtown Crockett Association. "The lighting will be ... at 6PM," Speaker 2 said, and organizers noted plans to close a portion of the square for the public event.
Council members discussed the city’s role and costs; Speaker 5 asked if the county would again help cover expenses, and Speaker 2 said many supplies and lights are now owned by participating businesses. The council approved the agreement to allow the planned November lighting to proceed.
