Crockett police and fire present monthly activity reports; police flag aging fleet

At the meeting, the police department summarized November and December 2022 activity: November — 14 officers logged 2,341 hours, responded to 479 calls for service, investigated 6 traffic accidents, made 36 arrests and issued 368 citations; December — 14 officers logged 2,437 hours, responded to 484 calls, investigated 13 traffic accidents, made 34 arrests and issued 273 citations. The presenter told council high-mileage vehicles are spending more time in the shop and recommended a phased replacement plan; council discussed buying three to five vehicles and agreed to start with three as a practical first step.

The fire chief reported 40 calls in November (23 inside the city, 17 county) and 45 calls in December (28 city, 17 county), with a year-end total of 550 calls (333 city, 217 county). The fire department requested four sets of bunker gear (about $5,000 per set) and replacement heaters for the station; council directed staff to consider these items as part of ARPA funding deliberations and to place repairs on upcoming agendas as needed.
