The Crockett City Council approved a specific‑use permit for 205 East Goliad, allowing a horizontal mixed commercial and residential use in a C3 zoning district. The application was filed by Jeffrey W. Dorset on behalf of Possum Grape 2 LLC.
Planning staff said the property meets the criteria for mixed use and that the planning and zoning commission recommended approval after two nearby property owners spoke in favor. Dorset told the council, "The business currently will be, my office, for my business. In the future I hope to maybe have a higher and better use for it. Perhaps retail in the future, but at this point it would be my office."
A council member moved to approve the special‑use permit and a second was recorded; the presiding officer declared the motion carried. Council thanked Dorset and expressed support for downtown reinvestment.
The ordinance and legal description for the property were read into the record during the hearing; council asked that the applicant proceed with the approved mixed use.
