Crockett council selects Weaver for forensic audit of EDC, agrees to split cost with EDC

The Crockett City Council reviewed five proposals in response to a request for proposals seeking a forensic audit of the Crockett Economic and Industrial Development Corporation (EDC). Staff explained the evaluation criteria—relevant experience in Texas, prior EDC audits, local capacity, references and cost considerations including hourly rates and not-to-exceed totals—and said five sealed proposals were received.

After opening and discussing the proposals, council members recommended the firm Weaver based on qualifications and cost structure. A council member moved to appoint Weaver for the forensic audit; the motion was seconded and approved. On a subsequent agenda item the council approved issuing the notice of award to the selected firm, authorized Mayor Ianthea Fisher to act on behalf of the city in contract matters, and directed that the audit cost—an unbudgeted expense—be split between the city and the EDC.

Staff noted that the audit expense is not currently budgeted in either the city or the EDC budgets and asked council for direction on how to cover costs. Council voted to split the cost.
