Crockett council clears grant application, regional and library appointments

The City of Crockett council approved a resolution authorizing submission of a Texas Community Development Block Grant application to the Texas Department of Agriculture for up to $750,000 toward a fire truck, with the mayor stating the city's match would be $15,930. "It's been completed and ready for submission," the mayor said of the application during the budget workshop.

Council also considered appointments to external and advisory bodies. The mayor said the Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DECOG) allows one official representative from Crockett because of its population, and the mayor has served the prior term and could continue unless council appoints an alternate. For the Library Advisory Board, the mayor reported two members had reached term limits (Pip Gillette and Roberta Mason) and the board recommended Paula Hackett and Jessica James; council moved and seconded the appointments.
