City GIS staff demonstrated a redesigned "Meet Your Council" web page during the May 8 meeting that provides interactive district maps, an address lookup to identify a resident's council district, council‑member biographies, committee listings and a printer‑friendly export.
The presenter said the tool is mobile‑friendly and supports pan/zoom, saves shareable map links and supports a screenshot/download option. Staff credited the City Clerk's office, City Manager's office, IT and GIS for their roles in the project and invited council members to provide feedback on images and biographies before the page goes live.
Councilmembers praised the tool as improving transparency and public access; one council member asked about updating the mayor’s photo and another asked whether district imagery might conflict with school colors. Staff said the new site will make it easier for residents to find meeting information and commonly requested documents without a public‑records request.
Why it matters: The interactive tool is intended to help residents find their district, contact elected officials and access meeting materials more easily, supporting transparency and constituent engagement.
Next steps: Staff will publish the page under the City Council site and continue small updates and feedback rounds.
