At the Jan. 23 meeting the City Manager provided multiple operational updates for council review.
Staff reported a recent meeting with the Lincoln chapter of the EAA and airport tenants that yielded items for follow up, and noted a partnership with William Jessup Aviation that placed a classroom and flight simulator at the airport. The T‑hangar RFP is scheduled for wrap up next week with a review committee interview and a recommendation expected at the following council meeting.
The manager said the Salt Mine grant project began construction on shower facilities and is finalizing laundry equipment orders; Salt Mine will provide before/after documentation and periodic status updates to council. He said he met with the new owner of the Sudby commercial property who is actively seeking tenants.
On one‑time federal funds, the manager estimated approximately $4.5 million remaining in ARPA funds and recommended a future council session to review what remains and decide allocations for public safety, homelessness and nonprofit/business grants before the funds expire in two years.
Staff also said the skate park consultant has been selected and initial design work — including parking and community meetings on amenities for different skill levels — has begun. Council members asked to calendar a strategic retreat and an annual review of the city manager.
