The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors on Jan. 3 re-elected Mike Kiesak as chair, chose Anna Payne as vice chair and appointed Dawn Corporal secretary during its annual reorganization meeting.
The board also approved a series of professional appointments, naming Curtin and Heafner as township solicitor, David Truelove of Hill Wallach as labor attorney, Paul Lang (Parkway/Parlow and Lang referenced in the record) as conflict attorney, Remington & Vernick as township engineer and Phil Wursta of Traffic Planning and Design as township traffic engineer. Each motion was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote or by the recorded 5-0 tallies indicated in the meeting record.
The appointments were presented as routine reorganization business. Board members said they value experience and continuity; several members and staff described nominees as long-serving or engaged in local affairs. One resident raised a question about whether holding concurrent roles (county planning commission and local planning commission) posed a conflict; board members said it did not and described such experience as beneficial.
All motions on officer elections and the slate of professional appointments carried with unanimous or near-unanimous support, with recorded outcomes given in the meeting minutes.
The board moved on after the votes to complete a broad set of reappointments and vacancy fills for township boards and commissions as part of its reorganization work.
The meeting adjourned after a public-comment period that included personnel-related complaints and an allegation about a newly elected auditor’s social-media posts; the board did not take formal disciplinary or investigatory action during the meeting.
