Clearlake City Council approved the consent agenda unanimously, heard one public comment urging even application of codes and ordinances, and received a series of council reports and updates on local events and facilities.
During public comment, Alice Reese, who said she has lived in the city more than 40 years, expressed concern that codes and ordinances are not applied evenly and read a portion of the Fourteenth Amendment to stress equal application of law. The mayor invited specifics and pointed to Lieutenant Peterson in the audience for follow-up on enforcement concerns.
The consent agenda was approved after a motion by Council Member Kramer and a second by Council Member Overton; the clerk recorded the unanimous vote. Council reports included a field trip report from Council Member Kramer on the Dam Road extension and a trail project in Middletown, a request to start an ad hoc RRA committee to incentivize homeowner improvements for insurance-rate reductions, an update from Council Member Overton about the senior center operating at the Masonic Lodge and work with the assemblywoman on detox and medical-access issues, and a notice from Council Member Sloane inviting public input to the college chancellor. The vice mayor praised the recent Harvest Festival and thanked staff and volunteers; the mayor praised Austin Park improvements and asked staff about seasonal operations of a water feature and a simulated ice rink trial that staff said will return next holiday season.
The meeting adjourned with no further public comment recorded.
