The Clearlake City Council on Sept. 19 unanimously approved a $43,594 contract with Sac Town Contractors to install 14 light poles along the roadway leading to the city's Public Works yard and authorized the city manager to approve up to 10% for unforeseen contract amendments.
Director Labo told the council the project was originally designed with foundations and conduit in place, but the light poles had not been purchased at that time. "The city council is being asked to approve a contract for the Burns Valley light pole installation project and authorize the city manager to approve up to 10% for additional unforeseen contract amendments," Labo said during the staff report.
Bids received for the work included Sac Town Contractors at $43,594; Mike Brown Electric at $46,710; Coastal Mountain Electric at $59,250; Payne Construction at $80,000; and Saint Francis Electric at $89,000. Staff recommended Sac Town Contractors as the low bidder.
Miss Red, a staff member, said the pole design will match existing fixtures in Austin Park and will include a mix of 16-foot and 30-foot poles placed at the park entrance (near Mud Slingers), along the Public Works yard and as part of the park project.
Council Member Kramer moved to approve the contract and Vice Mayor Claffey seconded. The council voted all ayes and the motion passed unanimously.
The council did not receive any public comment on the item at the meeting. The contract award allows the city manager to approve amendments up to the 10% contingency that was specified in the motion.
