Tina Veramantes, director of the Clearlake Recreation and Events Division, presented a quarterly update to the council on Aug. 17 highlighting a busy summer of concerts, the restoration of the Junior Giants youth baseball program and progress renovating the youth center.
Veramantes said the Junior Giants program — funded by the Giants Baseball Fund — provided uniforms, bats and equipment at no cost to participants and that staff received inventory and follow-up support from the program. She described the youth center’s changing appearance since earlier renovations and said the department is pursuing sponsorships and donations to make programming financially sustainable.
Upcoming events noted during the presentation include a movie night at Austin Park (showing DC League of Super-Pets) and a trunk-or-treat community carnival hosted at the youth center in October; organizers asked for candy donations and volunteer booths.
Council members thanked the recreation staff for programming that drew residents to parks and concerts and asked a few clarifying questions about upcoming events and volunteer needs.
