Clear Lake approves MOU with county for Austin Park skate-park design

Clear Lake — The City Council unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding with Lake County to fund design costs for a regional skate park at Austin Park and authorized the city manager to execute the agreement.

City Manager Alan Flora told council the county board of supervisors previously approved a matching MOU and intends to fund most of the eventual construction cost after designs produce a firm estimate. The current MOU covers design-phase expenses so the city can proceed with the selected design consultant and prepare cost estimates.

Council member Kramer moved to approve the MOU and Vice Mayor Claffey seconded; the motion passed by unanimous roll call.

Staff said the design contract was already approved and that a subsequent county MOU would cover construction funding once the design and cost estimates are complete. No public opposition to the MOU was raised at the meeting.

The council asked staff to return with a design timeline and cost estimate once the consultant’s work is complete; staff listed executing the MOU and proceeding with design as the next steps.
