Clearlake authorizes sale process for vacant Morgan Avenue lot, staff to accept best offer

The Clearlake City Council on May 5 authorized the city manager to execute a sale agreement for vacant land on Morgan Avenue and to proceed with the most advantageous offer received. Staff said the lot is a double parcel that could be subdivided into two standard residential lots and that the city has received multiple offers; figures discussed at the meeting were near $20,000 per the examples presented.

City Manager Flora explained that the city can subdivide the parcel without a subdivision map act process when selling, that hookups (water/sewer) likely have not been provided, and that buyers will be responsible for hookup fees. A nearby resident, Daniel Richardson, asked to be contacted about bidding on the lot; staff directed him to leave contact information.

Councilman Kramer moved to authorize the city manager to execute the sale agreement for the parcel at Morgan Avenue; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff said they will accept the best available offer and proceed with escrow and subdivision steps as appropriate.
