Clear Lake reports housing and capital‑project progress: Danco closes on 80‑unit deal; parks and road projects move forward

City Manager Flora and Public Works staff gave a multi‑item update on housing and capital projects on May 19.

Flora said the Danco 80‑unit affordable housing transaction officially closed and financing is in place; Danco expects to start construction around June 1. The city also reported a newly completed water tie‑in that aided Tribal Health’s facility opening schedule.

Interim Public Works Director Schwartz reported Burns Valley Development phase‑1 items are nearly complete (curb, gutter, utility tie‑ins) and that construction for a public works yard and related improvements is progressing. The Sulfur Fire paving project is substantially complete with finishing work remaining and the contractor within budget.

The Austin Park splash pad is scheduled to start construction in June with an anticipated opening around July; bids were approximately $330,000 and equipment costs near $98,000. The city plans 10 miles of chip seal and will post a project map online; the second Modoc rehabilitation bid came in near $923,000 with roughly $200,000 in state funding offset.
