Clearlake council unanimously approves first readings of two state‑mandated code updates

Clearlake — The City Council on March 3 unanimously approved first readings of two ordinances to bring city code into conformance with recent state requirements.

The council voted to accept Ordinance No. 2592022, adding language to the municipal code to incorporate the state water‑efficient landscaping requirements, and set a second reading for March 17. "This is part of SB 1383/related water conservation updates we must adopt," Mr. Goodman said while introducing the measure.

The council then approved first reading of Ordinance No. 260‑2022 to add provisions on recycling of construction and demolition debris, including diversion requirements for waste generated by building projects. Councilman Claffey moved and Councilman Kramer seconded the motion; the clerk announced the vote was unanimous on both items.
