The council approved awarding a contract for abandoned‑vehicle towing, storage, dismantling and disposal services to All in One Towing for selected line items (A, E and F), while excluding other items and continuing to evaluate options for RVs and vessels.Supervising code enforcement officer Lee Lambert told the council two bids were received and that some rates in the low bid appeared high for RVs and vessels; he cited a $3,100 line for RV towing and crushing compared with an internal estimate of about $750 for that service. "There's a couple amounts on there that we still feel like are extremely high for us," Lambert said.Council and staff discussed continuing the current practice of towing and storing vehicles for later crushing versus contracting an all‑in‑one service that would tow directly to crushing and avoid storage. City Manager Flora said the RFP intended to consolidate towing, crushing and disposal to avoid storage costs but that if the RV pricing remained excessive the city might need other procurement steps.Councilman Kramer moved to award the contract to All in One Towing for the recommended line items; Councilman Claffey seconded and the motion passed by voice vote. Staff will continue evaluating options for RVs and vessels, including whether to rebid or use alternative disposal arrangements.
