Clear Lake swears in three officers and honors Kelleher for vehicle-recovery awards

Clear Lake — The city council on Oct. 7 ceremonially swore in three new police hires and recognized a promotion and state awards for department members.

Chief White introduced Officer Segoviano, Officer Perry — a Clear Lake native returned from San Diego — and Sergeant Michael Peralta, noting Peralta’s prior service and promotion on Aug. 18, 2021. "Officer Segoviano was born in Visalia, California..." Chief White said while introducing the new officers and asking attendees to applaud their service.

Chief White also announced Officer Kelleher will receive two 10-8-51 awards from the California Highway Patrol and the American Automobile Association for his work recovering stolen, occupied vehicles. "The California Highway Patrol and the American Automobile Association are recognizing Officer Kelleher for recovering 12 occupied stolen vehicles between January 2020 and June of 2020," Chief White said.

The chief noted department staffing challenges and overtime demands, thanked officers for their service and described efforts to recruit local candidates while attracting talent from outside the area. The council offered a round of applause and recognized the officers and their families during the badge-pin and oath portions of the ceremony.
