The University of Utah Board of Trustees read a resolution expressing ‘‘deep and sincere gratitude’’ to Michael L. Goode for his service leading the university’s health sciences operations. The resolution, read aloud by Steve Price, summarized Goode’s roles (senior vice president for health sciences, dean of the Spencer Fox School of Medicine and CEO of University of Utah Health), credited him with growth in revenue, sponsored research, philanthropic gifts, patient visits and facilities, and cited his leadership during the COVID‑19 pandemic.
Trustees praised Goode for recruiting and promoting senior leaders across the health sciences and for supporting the university through a presidential transition. In response, Goode thanked the board and said he and his wife, Danette, view this as ‘‘a season’’ and that he plans a sabbatical and hopes to return to teach and mentor faculty.
The reading was ceremonial in nature; the public transcript records the resolution read and expressions of appreciation but does not show a roll-call vote adopting the resolution.
